 Getting Ready for Kindergarten/Pre-Kindergarten

This week in the Banana's Class we explored the topic of Kindergarten/Pre-Kindergarten by engaging in various activities and centers around the classroom.

 

 In the block center the friends used various blocks in the center to build different types of schools and classrooms. Some of the friends used the blocks to build the elementary school that they would be going to while others used different blocks to build Frankie Lemmon School. The friends also used small manipulative in the tables toys center to build their own classroom and schools.


In the art center the friends engaged in a water color painting activity where they were encouraged to paint a elementary school/preschool. While creating their schools, many of the friends shared what they look forward to the most with the upcoming school year; most of them are ready for the play ground and slide!




 In the table toys center the friends engaged in two different activities throughout the week. The friends worked on classifying objects/pictures that belong together. They classified these pictures by putting three puzzle pieces together to show which pictures were similar and belong together to create matches. The friends also worked on matching opposites. They matches two picture/puzzle pieces together to create these opposite matches. 
 

It is hard to believe that we will begin the last theme of our school year, Summer! We hope everyone has a great weekend!

Blocks In the block center, the children using the blocks in the center and constructed various types of ramps to race different balls on. The friends investigated how different heights and textures can effect how fast or slow the ball will travel down the ramp.  Dramatic Play The dramatic play center was transformed into a Sports Shop where the children engaged in various roles of play as employee and customer. Weather

 Weather!  This week in the Banana's class we learned all about the weather! Take a look at the fun we have had!   Literacy Center     This week in the literacy center, we completed an activity where we matched two rhyming words together to create a rhyming words tornado. Our friends have become so good at identifying rhyming words! Math/Table Toys    In the math center we created sunshine patterns. The friends used orange and yellow pipe cleaners to match and/or create their own pattern of sunshine rays.   Science Center         In the science center we experimented with things that the wind might blow. We found our own space in the classroom, used a straw to create the wind, and used items from the science center to see if the wind would blow them or not. Summer Week 2

 Hello Banana's Families, It is hard to believe this is our last blog post for the school year! We have had so much fun getting to know your child throughout this school year and have loved watching them grow and learn! We also want to thank you all so much for all of the patience, grace, and flexibility you all have shown throughout this school year. It has not been an easy school year but you all have made a great team to be a part of! We will miss you all next year and wish your family all the best as you begin a new school year!
