Bananas Class

 Welcome to the Banana's Class Weekly Blog!

This platform will be used to share more pictures, things that are happening, and information regarding the Banana's class!

 Since returning to school we have been exploring various community helpers! We have learned about Doctors, Dentist, Mail Carriers, Fire fighters, and will begin to learn about Police and Construction workers. 

During our doctors unit we had a visit from two doctors, Dr. Erin and Dr. Sam! They read us a book and told us more about what they do on a daily basis to help us in our community!


Our friends used blocks in the block center to build hospitals, doctors office, and dentist offices!

During our dentist unit, we did a science experiment to test various drinks on our teeth. We used eggs, coke, orange juice, and water. We placed one egg in each cup and observed the changes in the eggs each day. The children made various predictions as to what they think would happen to the eggs in the cups. After observing for a few days, we learned that the different drinks can turn our teeth different colors when we drink them too much!
Our friends enjoyed practicing cutting and brushing with this art activity. They cut out the tooth and then used a tooth brush to "clean the tooth" and turn it white!


  
We have had so much fun being back at school and seeing our friends on the computer!

Sports/Balls This week we began talking about different types of sports and balls and have had a full week of  exploring and learning through activities and play! Blocks In the block center, the children using the blocks in the center and constructed various types of ramps to race different balls on. The friends investigated how different heights and textures can effect how fast or slow the ball will travel down the ramp.  Dramatic Play The dramatic play center was transformed into a Sports Shop where the children engaged in various roles of play as employee and customer. I think most of the friends liked to be the customer so that they could try many of the sports equipment and balls out before buying!  Table Toys  In table toys this week, the children were encouraged to match, create and/or extend patterns using various types of sports balls. Weather

 Weather!  This week in the Banana's class we learned all about the weather! Take a look at the fun we have had!   Literacy Center     This week in the literacy center, we completed an activity where we matched two rhyming words together to create a rhyming words tornado. Our friends have become so good at identifying rhyming words! Math/Table Toys    In the math center we created sunshine patterns. The friends used orange and yellow pipe cleaners to match and/or create their own pattern of sunshine rays.   Science Center         In the science center we experimented with things that the wind might blow. We found our own space in the classroom, used a straw to create the wind, and used items from the science center to see if the wind would blow them or not. Summer Week 2

 Hello Banana's Families, It is hard to believe this is our last blog post for the school year! We have had so much fun getting to know your child throughout this school year and have loved watching them grow and learn! We also want to thank you all so much for all of the patience, grace, and flexibility you all have shown throughout this school year. It has not been an easy school year but you all have made a great team to be a part of! We will miss you all next year and wish your family all the best as you begin a new school year!
